Zechariah 4-6; Luke 12

"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." Luke 12:48

This is one of those verses that lurk in the back of my mind ALL the time. I almost always love helping and being available to those in need, but God seems to always find a way to push, stretch and extend beyond my level of comfort, and it is at those moments that this verse seems to not only echo but reverberate in my mind.

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16

This is my LIFE verse. Whenever I'm unsure of God's will, this verse always "steers" me back into the right direction: joy, prayer & thankfulness. Everything seems to be clearer when I'm in that place of thankfulness for all he's done for me... and it becomes easier to give and serve.

One secret I have learned through all these years of chasing God is that it is always my heart he's after, never the "work."
