"Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:4

"Many who are first will be last and many who are last will be first." Matthew 19:30

"...Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to GIVE HIS LIFE AS A RANSOM FOR MANY." Matthew 20:26-28

It is easy for me to be in awe of God's majesty, authority and infinite wisdom. I can easily picture all the angels in heaven worshiping his holy name yet it is his humility - the washing of the disciple's feet - that brings me to my knees. It is his kindness that leads me to repentance. It isn't his POWER that captures my heart...but his willingness to lay it aside.

Jesus,
How can I ever be offended or impatient? How can I ever feel that I deserve to have my own way? I ask that you would heal those places in my heart that want control. Help me to not just be willing to be last, but help me to celebrate and embrace the life of a servant - to give generously - to surrender - to lay my life down so that You would be honored. I am yours...forever and ever. Amen
