KEEPING MY EYES ON JESUS

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith." Hebrews 12:1-2

I feel the familiar longing of my heart to, "stay where it's safe," and I hear the familiar voice of the Lord calling out, "Come grow with me." I desire nothing more than to pull the blankets over my head and hide in my warm and cozy bed - in a room where I know the shadows aren't dangerous and the switch of a lamp can bring light to any darkness that invades.

I can feel my eyes filling with tears as the Lord takes my hand and tells me, "Take off your shoes. Step out into the cool night and feel the grass with your feet. Let me show you the brightness of the stars and share with you the music of the night. Fear not, little one. I am with you. ALWAYS. Take my hand. Never let go, for I promise that I never will."

The clutter of my life - the fears & failure, the lack of accomplishment and worth fall away as I step into the unknown - trusting the voice that leads me through darkness, holding on to the One who promises to never let me go.

I don't know where the paths of my life may lead: sorrow, joy, suffering, success, disappointment, wealth, poverty, lonliness, mountains, valleys, sunshine or darkness.

This I do know:
I will keep my eyes on Jesus, my champion - the author, initiator and the perfecter of my faith.

Come, Holy Spirit, my sweet companion.
